Song #8- Malta- Je Me Casse
I would be a very happy girl if this feminist anthem won Eurovision this year. It’s sassy, empowering, and incredibly catchy. I particularly love the retro feel in the chorus, and the way this fuses perfectly with the modern pre-chorus and gospel bridge- so many genres, the song takes us all over the musical map and everything blends together beautifully. The best bit about this song is Destiny. Her vocals are easily some of the best in Eurovision this year, and the harmonies in the bridge are simply divine. The pre-chorus is cheeky and sassy, and then the drop into the chorus is heavenly. I love the lyrics and the song’s message, the instrumental is stunning and every 30 seconds, something new is brought to the table, with seamless transitions throughout. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this, it’s just spectacular. Bravo, Malta.
Prediction: This is qualifying, and probably winning semi-final one. The juries will love this, and televoters will flock to it. Closing the show will also help as everyone will be humming it all night. In the final, I think this is in the running for the win, and would be very surprised to see it any lower than the top 5.
